Time for Practice
Sometimes it might feel like we don’t have time to practice. We have busy lives and things to do. The truth is that you don’t need a great deal of time to do some quality practice. Every little bit counts. A few minutes here and there adds up. More frequent, short practice can even be better than less frequent, longer practice as it helps with building habits and memory. Here’s a few examples of very short sessions you can try.
5 minutes: Kata
You can do our entire kata curriculum in 5 minutes or choose one and repeat it several times.
3 minutes: Strength
3 rounds of basic strength exercises.
Squats, reach-ups, lunges, push-ups.
Just do 10 of each in a circuit three times. Adjust the numbers to suit your level.
1 minute: Plank
1 minute: Square stance hold
1 minute: Meditate
Relax. Feel your breath. Be in the moment.
1 minute: 1 kata
10 seconds: As many push-ups as you can.
Spread these throughout the day whenever you can spare a few minutes (or seconds) to get some extra practice in.
