What is the minimum age that my child can learn karate?

Minimum age to participate in our karate classes is 7 years old.

Do you offer a free trial class?

We do! In some special circumstances, we will even offer two trial classes if you or your child are still not sure about joining Enso Karate.

Can I just turn up to try a class, or do I need to book in?

You don’t need to book in to attend one of our regular classes. You are welcome to just turn up and have a trial class.

My child may need me to stand with them to support them during class. Is that ok?

Absolutely. At Enso Karate, we want you to do whatever you need to do to help your child feel comfortable.

Do you have to wear a karate uniform?

We want everyone to feel comfortable, so we don’t mind at all if you’d prefer to wear your own clothes. The most important thing for us, is that you/your child are comfortable.

I want a uniform! Where can I get one?

You have lots of options for purchasing a ‘karate gi’. You can ask us to order one for you, buy a second hand one off sites like Gumtree, or buy a new one at one of many online martial arts stores. Let us know if you need our help.

Do you have regular Gradings?

We do! We understand how challenging it can be for many of us to ‘perform’ for Gradings, so we take a much gentler approach, tailoring Grading to the individual’s needs. Our Grading system looks like this:

White Belt

I am a participant in the NDIS – can I use my funding for fees?

If you are an NDIS participant, you may be able to use your funding to participate in Enso Karate. Our classes are designed to be accessible and inclusive of people with disabilities, assisting people to meet plan goals around improved social and community participation. If you self manage your funds, or use a plan manager, please contact us and we can work out how we can support your child to participate in Enso Karate.

*unfortunately participants who are Agency Managed cannot use their funds for class fees as we are not a Registered Provider.
